IlVolo means 'the flight'. Birds, the bar's emblem, take flight from our nest formed by the metal rooftop structure. Admire the view of the Eiffel Tower while sipping cocktails from Matthias Giroud and Mediterranean tapas and antipasti from Italian chef Denny Imbroisi.

The star mixologist and the renowned Italian chef join forces to climb to the peak of their talents. The Nid de Paris ('Nest of Paris') cocktail illustrates their creativity perfectly: it combines hay-infused Tanqueray gin, elderflower liqueur and Hysope cucumber tonic water. Their creations include both alcoholic and non-alcoholic mixes. They can be spicy, sour, sweet or savoury, but are always surprising and invite you to travel.

Their Italian, Spanish and Moroccan inspirations go well with the antipasti that our former participant on TV show Top Chef creates with produce from our Italian suppliers. In the dish Arancini Cacio e pepe, tartufo, ragù Maionese al peperoncino dolce, northern and southern Italy unite on your plate. The fried rice balls stuffed with cheese and pepper that Sicilians are so proud of are paired delightfully with the delicacy of truffles and the generosity of a meat sauce. The menu offers other gems of Italian cuisine, like courgette flowers with burrata, best savoured in that enchanting, late-afternoon light that magnifies Parisian monuments, or beneath the stars when night falls.

Denny Imbroisi famously appeared on TV show Top Chef. He is one of the best Italian chefs in Paris and makes tasty tapas and antipasti. Matthias Giroud gained a reputation as a mixologist in top bars and hotels in Paris and abroad. His travels inspire his cocktails at IlVolo.

A breath of freedom from the south

The bar's metallic construction looks a little nest-like, so not surprisingly we adopted the bird as a motif. For us it symbolizes a rooftop-level horizon that's a high-flying analog for the wide range of Mediterranean inspirations behind our cocktails and antipasti. So many fun ways to share some free time.

    The service is slow, too slow. We had to wait around twenty minutes to order, then over an hour (1h15!) to get our drinks… the food arrived another 20 minutes later.
    It's a shame because the servers weren't that busy, but there was only one bartender.

    Regarding the cocktails: they are good, original, but nothing extraordinary either. Few things that justify their price (15€!).

    The mixed board is a little light in terms of quantity and diversity of meats and cheeses.

    The only thing that makes up for it: the view of Paris, rather pleasant, with a beautiful, clear view of the Iron Lady.

    In short: nice for the viewing pleasure, average for a dinner/drink.

    Le service est lent, trop lent. Nous avons du attendre une vingtaine de minutes pour commander, puis plus d’une heure (1h15!) pour avoir nos boissons… la nourriture est arrivée 20 minutes de plus après.
    C’est dommage car les serveurs n’étaient pas si débordés que cela, mais il n’y avait qu’un seul barman.

    Concernant les cocktails : ils sont bons, originaux, mais rien d’extraordinaire non plus. Peu de choses qui justifient leur prix (15€!).

    La planche mixte est un peu légère en termes de quantité et de diversité des viandes et fromages.

    La seule chose qui rattrape le coup : la vue sur Paris, plutôt agréable, avec une belle vue bien dégagée sur la Dame de fer.

    En bref : sympa pour le plaisir des yeux, moyen pour un dîner/verre.

    We went there for the national french holiday and see the fireworks at midnight, great team, great view and great food. We will surely come back.
