Located in Karaköy, a wonderful district of Istanbul, Mürver Restaurant welcomes its guests with an ever-burning wood fire, a creative, relaxing and modern atmosphere, unique dishes and a magnificent terrace overlooking the historical peninsula since 2017. The venue, endorsed by both MICHELIN Guide and Gault&Millau Turkey, also received recognition for the rich blend of Mürver in the 'Award of Excellence' category by Wine Spectator.
To be fair food was good but service was so abysmal that it ruined our evening....first 2 starters that arrived were wrong (& when we questioned it we were quite abruptly challenged as if the mistake was ours), our first drinks arrived after our starters (45 mins after arriving), and it's the first time ever in a restaurant I've been physically thirsty during a meal due to lack of drinks service, I could go on...... To be fair to our waiter he was running around like a headless chicken with all the tables he had to cover so the blame lies with management. Either way it was a very expensive and very disappointing night as our meal was ruined. Looking around at irritated customers on adjacent tables we were far from alone in our disappointment that night.

Les serveurs sont beaucoup trop pressés et pressants, ne laissant pas respirer. They forced us to serve even though our cocktails were not finished, so the main course was lukewarm: really a shame
The food was sufficient. Perhaps the culinary concept is a bit confused—far too many ingredients, often not really connected to each other. That said, I understand that the Western idea of cuisine may differ. My dish (based on lamb) had 41 different spices, plus rice with just as many ingredients, and to "cut the fat," a yogurt and cream sauce. It was honestly far too heavy. But in my opinion, the real issue lies elsewhere. It's simply too expensive for the overall experience. The place is overcrowded, with far too many tables, very noisy, and the music is of questionable taste—it’s hard to sit and have a conversation with the person in front of you. On top of that, there’s music playing outside too. For a place that charges these prices (around 150 euros for two people in Istanbul), it just doesn’t hold up. The whole experience should feel luxurious—not just the prices. It misses the mark. The view is beautiful, and the architectural design of the space is well thought out. But the atmosphere is honestly tacky, especially considering the price point.
Mevlüt Özkaya, who has been serving as the Chef de Cuisine at Mürver since 2021, passionately leads the kitchen team while maintaining his culinary passion by focusing on the offerings of the sea and land throughout every season. With his unique and meticulous cooking style, the chef was honored with the Young Chef award from the MICHELIN Guide in 2023 and the Rising Chef award from Gault&Millau in 2024. An open kitchen and a fire wall suitable for many techniques as well as an ever-burning stone oven enables Mevlüt Chef to reinterpret the live fire tradition with an innovative approach, the specially designed chef's bench made from Nero Picasso marble offers guests a unique experience accompanied by special dishes in the warmth of a live fire.
