LA TERRASSE SOFITEL: A delightful summer venue

A local native, Executive Chef Mathieu Klein graduated from Alexandre Dumas Hotel School in Illkirch. He owes his taste for cooking to his older brother. In 2004, he began his career as a chef at La Maison des Têtes**** in Colmar and developed his technical skills. He then completed "The Basics of Cooking" training at the Alain Ducasse school in Paris. Season after season in beautiful restaurants, in 2009 he landed his first role as head chef at Clos des Délices in Ottrott. Purist and demanding, he is attracted to precision on the plate and a mono-product approach. His cuisine is "simple, but not simplistic".

    Honestly, we are very disappointed with our experience in this restaurant and in this Sofitel.
    Knowing that this meal had been planned for a long time and that it was a birthday present.
    Not to mention that we came from Paris.

    It all started when we called to find out if there was parking.
    We were told yes and thanks to a code we were able to access it.
    The problem was that there was no more space and the code did not give access to the Sofitel car park but to the Mercure car park.
    We wanted to go out but the door wouldn't open.
    We got stuck on the slope waiting for the valet.
    Then we had to reverse down the slope... finally we were able to park.

    Then in terms of service and throughout the meal it was catastrophic, we have rarely seen this.
    Especially given the standard level of the Sofitel usually.

    The list would be too long but here are a few examples: different server depending on the moment, untrained staff who don't know anything, no server for more than 30 minutes while the dishes are finished, no one to order dessert etc etc.. .

    I never write comments like this about a restaurant but this is shameful given the price.

    Honnêtement nous sommes très déçus de notre expérience dans ce restaurant et dans ce Sofitel.
    Sachant que ce repas était prévu de longue date et que c était un cadeau d anniversaire .
    Sans compter que nous venions de Paris.

    Tout à commencer quand nous avons appelé pour savoir s il y avait un parking.
    On nous a dit oui et grâce à un code nous avons pu y accéder.
    Le problème était qu' il n y avait plus de place et que le code ne donnait pas accès au parking du Sofitel mais du Mercure.
    Nous avons voulu ressortir mais impossible la porte ne s ouvrait pas.
    Nous sommes restés bloqués dans la pente en attendant le voiturier.
    Puis il a fallu faire une marche arrière dans la pente ... enfin nous avons pu nous garer.

    Ensuite en terme de service et tout au long du repas ce fût catastrophique, nous avons rarement vu cela.
    Surtout vu le niveau de standing du Sofitel habituellement.

    La liste serait trop longue mais voici quelques exemples : serveur différent en fonctIon du moment, personnel non formé et qui ne sait rien, aucun serveur pendant plus de 30 minutes alors que les plats sont finis, personne pour la commande du dessert etc etc ...

    Je n écris jamais de commentaire de ce type au sujet d un restaurant mais là , c est honteux vu le prix .
